Open Graph & Social Card Checker

Fetch a page and read its Open Graph and Twitter Card tags, with mock previews for Facebook, LinkedIn and X and a list of every tag found.

Inspects og:image, og:title, og:description, and Twitter Card specifications.

What this tool does

Enter a URL. The tool fetches the page, finds its Open Graph (og:) and Twitter Card (twitter:) tags, lists them, flags missing ones, and draws mock previews of how a share might look on Facebook, LinkedIn and X.

What it checks

The important tags are og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url and og:type, plus twitter:card. If the image is missing or the title is empty, the preview will show it. The full list of detected tags sits below the preview so you can see exactly what the page says.

What this is not

The previews are approximations that the tool draws itself. They are not what Facebook, LinkedIn or X will actually show, since each of them fetches the page on its own schedule, applies its own rules and caches the result. To see the real thing, use each platform’s own debugger, such as Facebook’s Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn’s Post Inspector, and use them to force a re-fetch after you make changes.

The tool also reads your page the way a simple crawler does, from the HTML your server returns. Tags added later by JavaScript won’t be seen, and most platforms don’t see them either.

Common problems it helps find

  • No og:image, so the platform picks a random image or none
  • An image URL that is relative, private or blocked by a login
  • og:url pointing at a different address than the page
  • Duplicate tags, often from a theme and an SEO plugin both writing them

To write the tags, use the Open Graph generator. Results are cached for 10 minutes, with up to 12 checks a minute.

Are the previews exactly what Facebook will show?

No. They are approximations. Use Facebook’s Sharing Debugger and LinkedIn’s Post Inspector for the real result.

Why isn’t my updated image showing on social platforms?

They cache previews. Use their debugger tools to force a refresh.

Does it see tags added by JavaScript?

No. It reads the HTML returned by the server, like most social crawlers do.

What is the best image size?

1200 x 630 pixels is a common size that works across the major platforms.

Which tags does it check?

og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url and og:type, plus twitter:card. It also lists every other Open Graph and Twitter tag it finds.
