What this tool does

Open a PDF (up to 20 MB) and it appears page by page. You can then:

  • Add text, with bold and italic
  • Draw rectangles, circles and freehand lines
  • Insert images
  • Whiteout and replace existing text
  • Rotate or delete the current page
  • Undo and redo, zoom, and move between pages
  • Manage the objects you add as layers (lock, duplicate, reorder, delete)

When you are done, you download the edited PDF.

It runs entirely in your browser

This tool does not upload your file. The page is rendered with PDF.js and the edits are written with PDF-Lib, both running on your device. That makes it a good choice for documents you would rather not send to any server.

“Replace text” is not real text editing

PDF files don’t keep text as editable paragraphs. Each word is placed at an exact position. When you use Replace Original PDF Text, the tool draws a white box over the old text and writes new text on top. The old text is still inside the file, hidden under the box. So:

  • It’s fine for fixing a typo on a page you’ll print or send.
  • It is not a way to redact. Anyone can still select or extract the hidden text. For real redaction use software that removes the underlying content.
  • The new text uses the font and size you choose, so it may not match the original.

Other limits

  • Large or complex PDFs are slow, because everything runs on your computer.
  • Scanned pages are images, so you can draw over them but can’t edit their text.
  • Forms and some protected files may not open.
  • Work isn’t saved if you close the tab, so download before you leave.

For one-click jobs with no editing, Rotate PDF and Merge PDF are quicker.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. It is opened and edited in your browser.

Does the Replace Text option delete the old text?

No. It covers it with a white box. The original text remains in the file and can be extracted.

Can I edit text in a scanned PDF?

No. Scanned pages are pictures. You can add content on top but can’t change the existing text.

Is there a file size limit?

Up to 20 MB.

Is this tool free?

It is marked as a paid tool on this site. Paid tools are meant to be offered by subscription, and subscriptions are not open yet, so the editor is locked for visitors at the moment.
